3 Things to Do to Satisfy that Travel Bug Now

I feel for you. Really.

The last trip I took was last December 2019. And that trip was primarily to see a sick friend and to undergo a medical check up. Yup, it was not really for pleasure or relaxation. But I did enjoy that trip having had the opportunity to meet several friends as well.

Travel seems to be out again during this first month of the year as the pandemic continues to rage on (after a seemingly momentary pause).

Whether it is a work-related travel or one for pleasure, it seems like we have to cross it out again. At least for now. Well, this doesn’t mean there’s no way to satisfy that travel bug in you. For now, these 3 things might just help.

1. Keep your list of dream destinations updated.

And why not? Just because you can’t travel now, doesn’t really mean there’s no future again to step on that land of your dreams.

So go ahead. Keep that list updated. List your top 5 or even top 10 dream travel destinations. And while you’re at it, read up about it. Google it.

What food would you like to try while you’re there? Which specific places would you like to spend the most time there? Would it be a budget trip for you or would you like it to be a bit lavish for a change?

2. Watch travel features or movies featuring travel destinations.

I assume that you have access to the internet. And that would mean you can easily access travel features. There’s a lot of them online. One easy way to find them is on YouTube. Then again, you can also see travel features on cable TV.

Then there are movies that gives you a glimpse of several travel destinations. Just to mention a few: The Tourist (2010), Siargao (2017), Crazy Rich Asians (2018), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), Finding Agnes (2020).

3. Look back and look forward.

When I say look back, look through your photos and souvenirs from your past travels. Talk about it with your family, with a friend. What was the best thing about a specific trip? What new thing did you learn about the place, its people, its culture? What will you do differently should you take that trip again?

When I say look forward, keep yourself healthy for that future trip. Eat healthy, sleep healthy. Exercise. Get vaccinated. Make sure your passport is updated.

For now, try these 3 things. And if you have more ideas, drop a comment below. Enjoy your day!
