It should not be a question really but it should always be a welcome option.
But unfortunately, it’s easy to point out to some reasons why we should not travel:
- It costs to travel.
- There is the question of safety as you travel.
- There is another question of safety and security of what you leave behind.
Perhaps you can think of more reasons. But for each one of them, there can be an argument for travel.
- It costs to travel. Well, there is no sugarcoating it whether we say we are travelling on a budget or not. The reality is we need to shell out money when we travel. But it ALSO COSTS to NOT travel. Life can become too predictable. And we miss out on new experiences, new challenges and even meeting new people. These new experiences, challenges and people can expand our world, our way of thinking, our way of doing things. And we need them.
- There is the question of safety as you travel. Preparations can be made. Research the place. Read up on safety tips. Do what can be done so you don’t expose yourself to people who can take advantage of you when you are new to a place. Choose well where you stay, what mode of transportation you will use. Choose well that airline or boat company. The internet is filled with information and reviews to help you prepare!
- There is another question of safety and security of what you leave behind. Make arrangements beforehand. Ask a trusted friend, relative or neighbor to watch or regularly check your place while you are away. You can also go ahead and hire someone to do this. Make sure the locks are working, use solar lights so lights go on automatically by sunset or night time.
And PREPARE. Read up and find more info about your trip. Take advantage of promos for advanced booking of flights, hotels. Consider travelling in a group which could save you on some costs. Take advantage of discounts offered by your credit or debit card and by travel sites.
Take time travel, to live, to learn!
