I sat on the steps with the National Gallery behind me and ate a sandwich that I bought at a nearby grocery shop. I could see red double-decker buses and cars in the roundabout and I could hear a siren from a distance, don’t know if it’s a police siren or an ambulance. As it passed by I could see it was an ambulance with a police car following it. There are a lot of people in the square. Some are taking photos and others looking about, those that are sitting on the steps like me are either eating or smoking or doing both.
The National Gallery in London takes up the entire north side of Trafalgar Square.
Opening hours are:
Daily 10am–6pm
Fridays 10am–9pm
Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster is a public space and tourist attraction in central London. To get there the tube stations are Charing Cross and Leicester Square.
