My hubby went on a trip to Surigao City recently. This was in line with their training for the K-12 curriculum. He is a Science teacher and with the new curriculum change, the seminar was part of his preparation to teach Grade 8 this coming school opening in June.
I haven’t been to Surigao myself and I hope I could explore the city with my hubby some other time. Well, maybe soon? 🙂
Just some facts on this lovely, quiet city: the City of Surigao is located at the northeasternmost tip of Mindanao Island in the Philippines; it is the capital of the province of Surigao del Norte. The people there speak a distinct Visayan language called Surigaonon. It is one of the oldest port towns in Mindanao, founded by Spanish colonizers in 1655. Surigao is also considered one of the most important seaports in the Philippines. It’s about an hour and 40 minutes by plane from Manila. One can also travel by boat to and from Surigao via Manila and Cebu City. It is about 3 hours by bus from Butuan City.
