I’ve been wanting to check out the coffee place near the Butuan City Sports Complex and I finally got the chance last Sunday afternoon, just before sunset. Thanks to a good friend, Jhie.
Kapihan sa Datu sits on an open space quite accessible in the city. A play park for kids is just adjacent to it, which is really a cool thing for parents. They can have coffee while their kids are playing. While you are there, you also get a view of the majestic Mt. Mayapay.
The place serves freshly brewed coffee (Manobo blend), pastries and even barbecue at night. I would say the price for their coffee and food is quite friendly to the pocket. They also have a souvenir shop which features products from Butuan as well as from the Caraga region (pastries, coffee, native bags, among others).
Kapihan sa Datu also has a wi-fi connection so you can actually go there with your laptop and check your emails as you drink your coffee. But that Sunday afternoon, I came with my hubby and a couple of friends. We drank our latte, ate hot dogs and well, just talked
Kapihan sa Datu is open daily from 9 am to 11 pm.

Reminds me of a program “Kapihan sa CDO” back then, when I was doing my OJT at the PIA Region 10 and Radyo ng Bayan. I wonder if there is a Kapihan sa CDO place na pud karon. TV program ra man to sauna.
