Niagara Falls –Dreams do come true

I saw this image in a magazine of what seemed to me like a half circle in shape, very massive and towering waterfalls. I was drawn to the waters as they cascade down and its power seems to leap out of the page. I dreamed that someday I can visit and come face to face with the flowing waters. I was in high school when I had this dream.
That someday came 23 years later when we had a chance to travel to United States and we included a trip to Niagara Falls.
We stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton on the Canadian side, and chose a room with views of the falls.

We ate our lunch in front of the big window and the chicken tasted more succulent than usual. It must be the view that added some flavour.
This is the famous Horse-shoe shaped falls on the right side, as seen from our hotel room, with the mists rising up and seen meters above the falls.
I always wondered why it is misty. Here is why, the rush of the water cascading down from such a height stirs up the air. When the water hits the rocks below it breaks into smaller particles. This dual action of stirred air and water breaking into smaller particles creates this misty phenomenon –water droplets suspended in the air.

Where is Niagara Falls
The waterfalls of Niagara Falls are located on the Niagara River which connects two of the five Great Lakes, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Collectively the waterfalls are named Niagara Falls. They consist of three different waterfalls. The American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls in the USA and the Canadian “Horseshoe” Falls in Canada. The Niagara River serves as an international border between the USA & Canada. There are two distinctive cities, Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada and Niagara Falls New York, United States of America.
We could see both the American and Canadian side of the Falls from our hotel room.

Some dreams do come true. For some of us we will just have to wait a little longer.
